Michel Khleifi
was born in Nazareth in the north of Palestine. He studied theatre at INSAS in Brussels where he had emigrated in 1971. He has directed and produced several documentary and feature films and has received several prestigious awards including the International Critics’ Award at the Cannes Film Festival, the Golden Shell at San Sebastian in 1987 for his film Wedding in Galilee. Michel Khleifi currently teaches at INSAS in Brussels, where he lives. In spring 2004 he was visiting Professor at Columbia University in New York.
